Rockwell Collins is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work with a team of systems and software engineers primarily located in Huntsville, AL in the development of Primary Flight Display software for a Multi-Function Display (MFD). Development takes place in a collaborative team environment and often includes team members from diverse geographic and cultural backgrounds. Customers are both foreign and domestic and include all branches of the armed services.
The key responsibilities and attributes for this position are:
-Understanding and experience with successful avionics software development programs, including certification to DO-178B/C Design Assurance Levels A/B/C/D
-Experience with Model Based Development (MBD) practices and tools (Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow/VAPS) is beneficial but not required
Strong knowledge base and skill set associated with software development activities (requirements, design, code, verification).
-Solid experience related to computer programming fundamentals including software architecture.
-A demonstrated ability to train and mentor entry level engineers
-Strong verbal and written communication skills
-Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Other valuable skills and knowledge regarding this position are the following:
-Experience with ARINC-661, ARINC-429, ARINC-653/ASL/AFDX/Ethernet
-ARINC Standards and Protocols (especially ARINC429, ARINC661, and ARINC653)
-Ada, C, and Python
-Vectorcast, ALM, Jama
Experience with managing scope, schedule, and budget for software development as well as experience with risk and opportunity management are a plus.
