TOLL COLLECTORS NEEDED IN PALM BEACH COUNTY. *This is a part-time position can provide up to 40 hours per week. **Opportunity for promotion from within to full-time.
Faneuil Inc. is contracted by the Florida Turnpike to manage the manual toll collection process on Florida’s Turnpike. Faneuil is seeking customer service minded individuals looking for long term employment in the Palm Beach County. The region extends from Three Lakes to Lantana; FL.
This is a 24 hour operation and flexibility to work multiple shifts is preferred.
The current starting pay for a Toll Collector position is $8.51 per hour.

From I-95….Take Exit #87A – Indiantown Road OR
From Turnpike…..Take Exit #116 – Indiantown Road
Go eastbound for approximately 3/4 of a mile to Central Blvd.
Take a right turn on Central Blvd. and go approximately 1/4 mile.
Take right into “Jupiter Gardens Office Condominiums” (250 – 270)
We are on the first level, Unit #108 — Corner unit of building #250.
PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position is responsible for accurately classifying vehicles, collecting tolls and providing change to motorists traveling through a toll lane. This position is essentially in an outdoor work environment, subject to weather conditions. Crossing traffic lanes safely requires good mobility, vision and hearing to be alert to traffic conditions. Peak traffic conditions require a high volume of transactions to be processed under demanding conditions. This work impacts the traveling public and as such requires courtesy, efficiency, and professionalism at all times.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Proficiently operate the Department’s toll collection equipment according to procedure.
Accurately classify vehicles and collect proper toll amounts from motorists traveling through a toll lane.
Accurately make change for various U.S. bill denominations in a timely manner, issue receipts to motorists and write insufficient fund slips.
Accurately complete operational reports reflecting toll lane activity. At end of shift, balance cash and prepare accurate cash deposits on monies collected and tickets received.
Speak and understand English proficiently to effectively communicate with motorists and respond to inquiries in a courteous, professional and helpful manner.
Provides on the job training to new hired toll collectors and existing employees when required.
Performs the responsibilities of the toll collector supervisor when required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
High school diploma or GED.
Successfully pass English, math and cash calculation tests.
Required to possess and maintain a current/valid Florida driver’s license.
Required availability to work weekend hours based on business needs.
Ability to climb and descend tunnel stairs while carrying up to 30 pounds.
Ability to safely walk across toll lanes while fully elevating and extending arm closest to oncoming traffic to ‘shoulder blade height’ in a ‘stop motion’ (arm extended with palm held out) to signal oncoming traffic and while carrying work related items (i.e. tour funds, cash draw, safely related items etc…) in the other arm.
Ability to walk long distances.
Ability to determine vehicle classification by visual inspection.
Ability to handle money and make change.
Ability to determine correct tolls based on a numerical table provided.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
Ability to express ideas and concepts clearly.
Interpersonal communication skills.
Cash handling experience on a computerized system.
To conduct on the job training, successful completion of the “Train the Trainer” program.
To perform supervisory responsibilities, successful completion of the toll collector supervisor on the job training and the “Supervisor in Training” classroom program.
The personal behavior needed for this position are to be dependable, friendly, professional, competent, productive, accurate, positive, supportive and demonstrates exceptional work habits.
Ability to communicate orally with management, co-workers, and customers is crucial.
Standing for extended periods is common. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, to receive ordinary information and to interact with customers.
Heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 30 lbs. of is required. Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment such as computer terminals, calculator, copiers, and FAX machines.
Sensory Requirements Some tasks require oral communications ability and visual perception and discrimination.
Environmental Factors The job is performed outdoors. Activities include extended periods of standing and extensive work at a computer monitor and/or calculator.
